Colorado Coach Diary Day 18

We experienced an intense coach’s meeting today after practice. We  have a couple linebackers with grade issues. Thus, we are bringing in  their parents and discussing the situation. Both players need to advance  and improve their grades; or, they are not playing or practicing  football (the rule).

Colorado Coach Diary Day 19

We won the game Friday night on a late field goal kick that hit the upright and fell through. Our team was extraordinarily happy because we are undefeated at 4 games into the season and now ranked #3. The Denver Post with Missy Bradford covering us has highlighted our team players and coaching staff

The date with Missy Bradford went well. I talked to many other coaches and players who took note of Colorado Sports Academy High School’s football program this year. Many were asking about the pro and wishbone set on offense, the reverse on kickoff returns, and our blitz packages. The food was Mexic

The English class today was heartwarming. After a lengthy discussion of personal pronouns and the direct and indirect objects of pronouns within writing skills, a sophomore student presented a writing that won 2nd in the National Scholastic writing contest for high school.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 22

The Friday practice went well in preparation for our upcoming Homecoming game Saturday afternoon. I pulled our team off the field after some difficult 90-minute drills. We had three offensive strings march up and down the field with 7 skill players.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 23

There are subliminal issues ongoing with me that my mental health nurse practitioner life coach, Sandy Swift FNP, wants me to work on.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 24

Josh’s eye swelled further overnight; and I called Alison Maples DO, our pediatrician. She wanted him seen today; so, I found an English sub for my first class and went to the clinic.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 25

I honestly do not know what to do regarding the present situation. I talked to my life coach, Nurse Practitioner Sandy Swift, early today. She is available 24/7.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 26

Tonight, I was worried after that late night talk with Dr. Alison Maples that I would be forced into a relationship.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 27

My first instincts at the game Friday night during halftime was to be a “Lombardi” and start screaming at our players. We were down 21-10 at halftime.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 28

Yesterday was an amazing day. As a football guy, I could not be happier. We are not the NFL; but in real life terms, the game meant something to all our players, trainers, parents, and athletic staff.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 29

I firmly believe that I am in control of my life and cannot let other variables dissuade me from my mission. I am a football coach, English literature instructor, and father of three beautiful boys.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 30

Jacob had a cold today; so, with the fever and ear pulling we were in Alison Maples DO Pediatrics office after school but before practice. I feel she is an excellent physician, obviously wants a guy (potentially me), and wants to do something with me.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 31

Our Colorado Sports Academy High School Football Team crushed the Denver squad last night. We still had strength and conditioning training for the athletes, training sessions with hot tubs, and a film review with the coaches the following Saturday morning.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 32

I rushed home after practice today with Josh taking a swipe across his face while just learning Lacrosse at school in a Saturday morning session. He received a cut; and the school nurse at practice said he would need sutures in the Emergency Room.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 33

The ski date with Dr. Maples went well. She is certainly serious about a continuing relationship. We had a great time; and most of the socialization mentioned our Colorado Sports Academy High School Football Team.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 34

The week is flying by with preparation for a supposedly weak Denver football team. We are favored by 21 points; but I feel the game will be close. Our players are tired, overworked at school, and it has been a long season.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 35

I am relaxing tonight after the kids are down. Colorado Sports Academy High School has remained undefeated; and has one last opponent before entering the playoffs as the #1 seed.

Colorado Coach Diary Day 36

The football game last evening was terrific for the fans. Our win secured our top playoff spot. There was rain and mist.
